Teach your children the basics. Bring your children to Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days. Teach your children to make the sign of the cross with Holy Water and say "hello" to Jesus by jenuflecting when entering the Church. Teach your children that God is truly present in the Eucharist and that Church is a sacred and Holy Space that deserves our respect and admiration by how we present ourselves.
Pray at home with your family and fill your home with Catholic objects such as the crucifix and a Holy Water font. These things can’t just exist at church, they need to be in the home because our homes and our families are the Donmestic Church.
Make religion relatable and engaging for children. We are so lucky today to have an abundance of new and easy to use resources and guides for parents who want to grow in teaching the faith. A few good resources to get started are: Catholic All Year, The Messy Family Project and Catholic Sprouts. It can be easy to get overwhelmed on where to start. Just start small and reflect on which things your particlar family would find most helpful and engaging at whatever life stage you are in.
